PokemonGo Top Trending Twitter Topic in Multiple Asian Countries on Day 1 Availability in South East Asia

On August 6, 2016, Pokemon Go announced on it's official Facebook and Twitter accounts that the app is now available in 15 more countries and regions across Asia and Oceania both on the Play Store and App Store.

The countries and regions include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.

Despite coinciding with the Rio Summer Olympics, a quick check on the trending topics of 4 South East Asian Countries where Pokemon Go is now available reveals that #PokemonGo (and country-themed hashtag variations) is a trending topic, with as much as dominating 4 of the Top 10 Trending Topics in the Philippines (#PokemonGo #Charmander #Pikachu, #Squirtle).

In countries such as Malaysia and the Philippines, there have been over 625K tweets on #PokemonGo making it a Top Trending Topic.  Expecting more tweets and online discussions about the game as more users from these countries download, install and start exploring the app.



The online phenomenon and popularity created by Pokemon Go is huge businesses can't neglect. Now that #PokemonGo is available in most of South East Asia, we'll get to see the creative marketing strategies businesses will execute to capitalize on this.
