When we tried to find the source of the hashtag, we found a post on Facebook which is a chat transcript discussing the hashtag and making it a trend. The hashtag was the brainchild of Atenean Nathania Chua known on Twitter as @PilosopoTanya and @akzena and first posted August 1, 2011 12:08pm. Based on the photo caption, the hashtag 1st appeared on trending topics 12 hours after.
UPDATE: After 3 hours of endless manyak tweets, #replaceawordinasongwithmanyak officially trended at the second spot after the promoted TT at around 12:10am, August 2, 2011. WOOOHOOOO
As of Aug 2, 2011 3:44pm, there are over 2,400 tweets with the hashtag. A partial archive of the tweets can be viewed here.
Aug 2, 2011 10:15pm Update: The Boys Night Out nationwide radio program on @magic899 are talking about this trending topic. A personal account by the creator of this trend can be found at http://thenatenean.tumblr.com/ . We're also estimating a total of at least 4,000 tweets by now with the hashtag.
