Twitter, Youtube & StumbleUpon on the Rise for March 2011

While Facebook is undoubtedly the most popular Social network used in the Philippines leaving the other social networks in the dust, it's interesting to note that Social Network runnersup Youtube, Twitter and StumbleUpon have shown increased usage for the month of March 2011. 

Based on, the website that ranks social media sites according to their traffic generation capabilities (i.e. the amount of traffic they refer to other websites), Youtube has increased its popularity from 6.29% to 10.18%, Twitter from 4.46% to 5.86% and StumbleUpon from 2.56% to 2.86%, all taking a combined 5.39% share from Facebook.

As of April 1, 2011, Facebook still remains the top social network producing an 80.21% share in traffic generation.   This can be traced to the enormous number of links Filipinos on your friends list share on a daily basis and multiplied by the number of times shared to other friends' networks essentially any interesting and popular link a viral candidate.

Twitter has also been on the rise due to recent trending local topics and discussions on Panfilo Lacson, Ligot assets, Azkals, Willie Revillame and Binibining Pilipinas while youtube has grown its popularity from videos of similar related Twitter trending topics.
